Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 17, 2026
Employo Inc. operates https://app.employoapp.com, a human resource management platform used by organizations to manage employee data, attendance, leave, and related HR operations.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when the Service is used. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please do not access the Service.
Because Employo is used by employers to manage information about their employees, this policy applies differently depending on your relationship with us — see "Our Role as a Data Processor" below.
Our Role as a Data Processor
Employo is typically purchased and administered by an employer, business, or HR team. In most cases:
- The Customer is the Data Controller — they decide what employee information is collected and why, and they are responsible for having the appropriate legal basis and employee notices in place.
- Employo acts as a Data Processor — we process employee data only on the Customer's instructions, and solely to provide the Service (e.g., attendance tracking, leave management, document storage).
If you are an employee using Employo because your employer has set up an account for you, your employer controls your data and is your first point of contact for any privacy questions, corrections, or requests. We will direct such requests to your employer where appropriate, and will assist the employer in fulfilling them.
If you are visiting our marketing website or signing up as a Customer directly, Employo acts as the Data Controller for that limited information (e.g., your business contact details, billing information), as described below.

- Name
- Email address
- Phone number

- Attendance records (check-in/check-out times, work hours, status)
- Leave records (leave type, dates, balances, approval status)

Automatically collected information
- Device and browser information, IP address, log data, and usage patterns, collected through cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy
We collect this information when it is voluntarily provided to us, when the Service is used, or through automated technologies.
How We Use Information
We use the information we process for purposes including:
- Providing, operating, and maintaining the Service
- Enabling core HR functions (attendance tracking, leave management, reporting, document storage)
- Improving, personalizing, and expanding the Service
- Understanding and analyzing how the Service is used, in aggregate
- Communicating with account administrators about updates, billing, and support
- Processing transactions and sending related information
- Detecting and preventing fraud or unauthorized access
- Complying with legal obligations
We do not sell employee data, and we do not use employee data collected on behalf of a Customer for our own marketing purposes.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Service (e.g., hosting, payment processing, customer support tools), under confidentiality obligations
- The Customer's authorized administrators, since employee data is inherently visible to the employer that manages the account
- Law enforcement or regulators, when required by law or to protect our legal rights
- A successor entity, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice provided where required
We do not share employee data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Employee data is generally retained for as long as the Customer's account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to allow data export, unless the Customer requests earlier deletion or longer retention is required by law.
Data Security
The security of your data is important to us. We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption, access controls, and restricted internal access — to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Data Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law (such as GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights including the ability to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your information, subject to legal and contractual limits
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent
If your data is processed by Employo on behalf of your employer, please contact your employer first, as they control the data. If you are a Customer or would like to reach us directly, you can submit a request using the contact details below, and we will respond in accordance with applicable law and, where relevant, coordinate with the Customer.
Further detail on our role as a processor and applicable data protection commitments is available in our [Data Processing Agreement].
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the revised policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
